Memorial Day is a day to honor our military, and in West Islip, that is exactly what we did. Most parades were canceled due to unfortunate weather but West Islip stood strong like our troops and held their parade, rain or shine, not allowing a little rain to stop us from honoring our great military.
It was an extremely powerful parade, and touching to see those come out and honor the military especially in less than comfortable conditions. The example that the adults set forth for the youth of our town by coming out in the rain to show respect and support of those that have given up so much for our way of life is truly amazing.
