5 Ways to Prepare Your Special Needs Child for their Portrait Session

So, you have a child with special needs....and you are dreading your upcoming photo session....don't. I am here to tell you that you CAN create a successful environment and that your photo shoot can actually be a positive experience for your child. Here's 5 ways you can prepare for your photo session with your special needs child.

1. Pre-visit the studio. Take the fear of the unknown out of the equation and schedule a visit to the studio a few days prior to the shoot.

2. Ask me for my social story about your session. Yes, I have written a social story which you can take home or I can email it to you.

3. Take a down day for your session.  Meaning, don't plan to take pictures on a day when you have had lots of stimulation like therapy or school.

4. Tell me lots and lots about your child. I will ask tons of questions, but please share anything you think I should and should not do during our session.

5. RELAX. You know your kids will always pick up on your stress, so try to be calm and positive. You are in good hands here, and there is no reason to worry!

I would  love to see your family in the studio sometime soon, please keep in touch!

Jenn
